Friends of onevillage,

We know it's been quite some time since you've heard from us, so we'd like to give you an update on how far we've come in the last several months and an overview of our current projects. Things are starting to move very quickly and onevillage has grown substantially since our launch in November. We've brought on several highly qualified directors and board members and are extremely proud to announce that we are in the process of closing on our first piece of real estate in Kpando.

Community Center

Our goal has always been to purchase land in Kpando to develop as a community hub for the residents of the village. We're thrilled to announce that onevillage has put a deposit down on a piece of land that we have earmarked as the eventual site of the Kpando Area Community Hub. We've spent a great deal of time over the last few months trying to find the perfect location and are confident that we have found a site that is both central and easily accessible - ensuring easy access for the greatest number of village residents. Although we expect the sale to be completed by the end of the summer, we are still raising funds to complete the full payment. If you are interested in making a contribution directly towards the funding of the community hub or would like more information on what role it plays in our development plans please contact us.

Ryvanz-Mia Orphanage Sustainable Farming Project

Ryvanz-Mia Orphanage is continuing to work hard to produce food. Once enough food is harvested to sustain the orphanage and support its food needs, our next goal will be to increase agricultural production to levels that will make it possible to sell food at market and bring income to Ryvanz-Mia. Our tireless community coordinator Edward Asamany is working with Ryvanz-Mia to create realistic timelines for the project and is making impressive headway.

Education Initiatives

The first of several new additions to our team will be heading up our educational initiatives: Bill Lindquist has joined onevillage as our Director of Education. Bill comes to us with more than 30 years of experience in the education field and is currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Hamlin University in Minnesota. Bill strongly believes in the onevillage education model and will be spearheading the introduction of our education initiatives into the Kpando community. Visit for more information.

Health Initiatives

Our second new addition is Meghan O'Leary who has recently joined our team as our Director of Healthcare. Meghan is currently finishing medical school at Queen's University in Ontario and has experience developing new programs in underserved countries around the world. Meghan just returned from Kpando where she spent time with local health directors preparing for the launch of onevillage's health initiatives in 2013.

Thank you for your support!

We are currently looking for a treasurer for onevillage and although this is a volunteer position it is integrally important to the success of our organization. If you know anyone that would like to become a part of our mission, please have them contact us directly.

We have several fundraising events being scheduled for summer and fall in New York, Chicago, Boulder and Canada and would love to see you at our events!  Our next fundraiser will take place in St. John's, Newfoundland on Aug 24th.  Please contact us if you are interested in participating and we'll let you know as soon as our other dates are finalized.

Thank you again and have a wonderful summer.
